Bethelinter Academy gives Cheque of Ghc10,000 to KATH

TheĀ  Management of Bethelinter Academy has supported the Pediatric Oncology Department of Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with an amount of Ghc10,000.00. They also gave the department items like soaps, washing powder, toilet role, diapers and toys for the children suffering from cancer. the gesture is to enable management support parents who can’t afford their wards hospital bills and other essential needs while in admission.

The Chief Executive Officer of the school, Mrs Adum Amankwah stressed that the outfit was touched when it heard of the difficulties some parents face paying the hospital bills of their children suffering from the cancer. the gesture was to aide such parents.

She said that the donation was part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of the school. She said that the gesture was not a one-off event, and that they would build a stronger relationship with the hospital going forward. Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital management, head of Pediatric Cancer Unit of Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr Vivian Paintsil, thanked the school management for the honour done. She further made a passionate appeal to the government to consider including Cancer patients in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in order to lessen the burden of parents.

According to her, parents find it difficult to foot the bills of their children suffering from cancer and it related diseases. She said further that the gesture will bring hope to the parents. Dr Vivian Paintsil, then used the opportunity to appeals to philanthropists institutions and individuals to come to their aid to ensure that children born with cancers are taking care off.
